We arrived in Istanbul feeling wrecked and tired. We were able to rent a car in order to drive to our room in town. In the morning we had the best breakfast. Consisting of cheese, bread, bagels, homemade jam, and a version of shakshuka.
The vibe of the city is very mixed. Hectic, busy, and loud. We were walking through very touristy areas so people were either very pushy or kind, there was not really a lot of in-between.
We were not able to visit the blue mosque but we did visit the Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazar. I was able to find a gorgeous scarf to cover my hair. The inside was truly a site to see. They make you take off your shoes before entering, which felt like a very grounding aspect of the visit.
I do want to say they have the best tea! I finally got to try some real Turkish Delight which was delicious :) Also the city is covered in cats, I was so ready to find Sam a Turkish sibling.
P.s Turkey airlines is very good! Best airplane food I’ve had so far and the seats actually had a bit more space for once.
